The Nice Guys is a mixture of fun, sarcasm and is completely unapologetic for the content in the movie, making it a wonderful movie and a must watch, with a wonderful pairing of Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe, who would have thought these two working together would be this good?
Nice Guys is a police drama set in 1970’s Los Angeles, where two completely different private detectives, investigate the apparent suicide of a fading porn star, but it turns out there is much more to it than they first believed.
The cast work well together, particularly the main three in Russell Crowe (Jackson Healy), Ryan Gosling (Holland March) and Angourie Rice (Holly March), who are perfect together on screen.
Crowe and Gosling work well in a pair and expect to see more of these two together in movies in the future, because as shown in The Nice Guys they work well together on screen and are funny. They combine their different characters together to provide jokes and stupidity throughout the movie, mostly Gosling on the stupidity.
The Nice Guys is written and directed by Shane Black, the writer of Lethal Weapon and Iron Man 3 and his writing style is present throughout the film. Where he combines action, thrills, noir and dark comedy throughout the film, which helps create a ultimately thrilling comedy.
The setting of the film adds to the dark comedy using the porn industry in LA, is a clever way to intertwine themes of sexuality and sexual humour.
Overall, The Nice Guys is a wonderfully made movie mixed with a great cast, action, twists and a bunch of laughs. This is a movie well worth watching and look out for more from Crowe and Gosling together as they are a perfect couple.
